Lori Dietzenbach Winborn, MPH, RDN, LD is a registered dietitian nutritionist with over two decades of experience in clinical nutrition, public health, and education. She currently serves as an Adjunct Professor at the University of Iowa Carver College of Medicine, where she teaches advanced medical nutrition therapy to Master of Clinical Nutrition students. Lori specializes in bariatric nutrition and currently works in the Bariatric Surgery Clinic. Recently she has begun working in the neuromuscular clinic, seeing Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) patients and their families.  She has held multiple leadership roles within the Iowa Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics and Kirkwood Keynotes chapter of Toastmasters International. Lori enjoys public speaking and has delivered nutrition-focused presentations to several professional groups, support groups, and is a guest lecturer to medical students in the Carver College of Medicine.

Clinical/Management Responsibilities

My clinical responsibilities include working in the outpatient setting, specifically the Bariatric Surgery Clinic and Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) neuromuscular clinic. While in these multidisciplinary clinics, I work with patients and family members to reduce their disease burden. Precepting students is done while in these clinics as well. For new dietitian hires in the outpatient setting, I serve as a Dietitian Mentor, meeting with them periodically during their first year of employment.
